LAGOS, Nigeria — October 23, 2025:
The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has announced an internal investigation into allegations that one of its staff members used a personal bank account to receive payments from customers for signage-related services.
The agency described the allegation, which surfaced in a recent social media post, as “a serious breach” of its financial and ethical regulations, emphasizing that all official payments must be made strictly through designated government channels.
In a statement issued by LASAA Management, the agency confirmed that the staff involved had been identified and directed to report to the Agency’s head office for immediate investigation and possible disciplinary action in line with the Lagos State Public Service Rules.
> “Such actions, if verified, are contrary to the established financial and ethical procedures governing transactions within LASAA and the Lagos State Civil Service,”
the statement read.
It further stated that the directive to investigate came from the Honourable Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, who oversees the agency’s operations.
LASAA reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct, assuring the public that appropriate corrective measures would be taken to uphold the integrity of its processes.
> “We appreciate the vigilance of members of the public who bring such matters to our attention,” the agency noted.
“Necessary actions will be taken to maintain public trust and ensure due process is followed.”
