LASCOPA Consumer Protection Sensitization Berthed In Epe & Eredo LCDA

Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), has again taken its divisional public enlightenment campaign to Epe Local Government and Eredo Council Development Areas.

The campaign which took off from Lagos road to Ayetoro market in Epe went through major streets to the Headquarters of the Local Government with the officials of LASCOPA sensitizing consumers on their rights.

The Officials of the Agency took the public enlightenment campaign to Erodo Local Council Development Area where they addressed a stakeholders meeting consisting of the Council Chairman, Hon. Rasak Adeniyi Salui, Hon. Ogunkelu Oluwadahunsi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency 2, Obas Chiefs, CDAs/CDCs members as well as representatives of markets leaders and youth leaders.

Speaking on the on-going sensitization campaign themed ‘’Know Your Rights” to educate consumers on their rights, the General Manager of the Agency, Mrs Kemi Olugbode said that the Agency was established by the Consumer Protection 2014 but, commenced operation in March 2018 with a mandate to ensure that the rights of consumers in the State are protected and promoted.

Continuing, she said that the Agency is also expected to have offices in every Local Government Area and Local Council Development Areas in the State so as to ensure that the rights of consumers especially at the grassroots are well protected and promoted.

Mrs Olugbode further said that the public enlightenment campaign was initiated by her Agency to educate consumers in the Division on their rights as well as to let them know that LASCOPA as an Agency of Government is there to protect their rights.

Speaking further, she charged consumers to take advantage of the existence of LASCOPA to lodge any complaint they might have on infringement of their rights as consumers of goods or services, stressing that the services of the Agency is free of charge and at no cost.

Highlight of the publicity campaign was the official presentation of the sensitization flyers to the Chairman Erodo Council Development Area and to the Lagos State House of Assembly Member representing Epe constituency II.
