#RussiaUkraine War: North Korea, Syria, Eritrea and Belarus Back Russia

BY DAYO ADESULU with Agency Report

Countries at the United Nations on Wednesday cast their votes against or for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with only North Korea, Syria, Eritrea and Belarus were in support of Vladimir Putin’s attack on Ukraine.

All other countries including China voted to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, except the four countries mentioned above.

The Russian UN ambassador had at the meeting accused Western countries of helping with a “coup” in Ukraine in 2014. It was gathered that the diplomat’s comments came as the UN member states overwhelmingly condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Russia’s UN ambassador Vasily Nebenzya accused the United States and its allies of engineering a “coup” in Ukraine as the United Nations condemned Putin’s invasion.

“Nothing is mentioned about the illegal coup in Kyiv in February 2014 — with the connivance of Germany, France and Poland and with the support of the United States — where the legitimately elected president of the country was overthrown,” Nebenzya said at the UN on Wednesday, according to a translation.
