Sanwo-Olu Boost Students Learning With 480 Technology Trained Teachers In Lagos

In its bid to boost the learning of students, the Lagos State Government on Wednesday said it has begun the training of 480 teachers in the use of technology to aid learning.

The Executive Secretary, Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, Mrs Ronke Azeez, disclosed this in a statement.

Azeez was quoted to have said this during the training of technical college teachers and instructors on content development.

She said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has taught and prepared the state government on how best to prepare for new normal in the 21 century.

“Training of teachers and instructors on the use of technology to impact knowledge will enable them to make learning much more fun, and ICT will also enable them to introduce different concepts with the use of audio-visual to aid teaching.

“The training is done in batches of 150, with a total of 480 teachers and instructors to be trained, as a move by the government to enable students to be competitive in the world by embracing technology in teaching and learning.”

Azeez also said teachers need to move away from the traditional chalk and board teaching approach.

“You all know that in today’s world if you are not able to move with the time, it means that you are retrogressing and just getting stuck and not moving forward. Our teachers must move forward and away from the traditional chalk and board,” she added.
