2023: CAN Urges INEC To Ensure Free, Fair, And Credible Elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been urged to make sure that the general elections in 2023 are free, fair, and credible by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The Christian organization urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure a peaceful transition when his term ends in 2023, saying that it will be his lasting legacy.

This information was provided in a statement that the religious organization’s Chairman, Reverend Yakubu Pam, and Secretary General, Elder Sunday Oibe, both signed. It was released following the National Executive Council Meeting (NEC) of the organization in Kaduna.

The group claims that as the general election in 2023 draws near, people who mismanaged the economy are using hunger as a weapon.
The preachers urged Nigeria’s government to address the issues of hunger and poverty.

“We urge Nigerians to make sure that the 2023 elections are held in a civil and peaceful manner. Elections are not a war. There isn’t a politician worth dying for. Nobody should try to impose their own laws. Political actors must play the game of politics fairly and without animosity. Party leaders, flag bearers, party members, sympathizers, and supporters must behave politely and concentrate their campaigns on how they intend to solve the various issues plaguing the nation.

“Northern CAN also wants to urge young people to resist letting any politician use them as weapons of violence. Be aware that some of these politicians send their kids to study overseas while they recruit young people for their gangs. Parents should warn their kids from being enlisted by politicians as gang members.
