UNILAG’s Tsunami of Suspension Over #Sex for Grade Hits Another Lecturer

BY DAYO ADESULU

Another UNILAG lecturer,  in the Department of Economics, Dr Samuel Oladipo, has been suspended by the institution authorities over sex for grade.

Oladipo was alleged to have been  indicted in the second stream of the BBC Africa Eye video titled: “Sex for Admission.”

Just like Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu, Ladipo was caught for demanding sex from an undercover admission seeker in exchange for a place in the school.

Recall that  Dr Boniface Igbeneghu of the Department of European Languages and Integrated Studies, Faculty of Arts was suspended on Monday after the BBC Sex for Grades video.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNLAG, Prof. Ouwatoyin Ogundipe, confirmed the suspension of Dr Oladipo by the university management and that he will face a panel. Ladipo has been indicted for luring a student to the UNILAG ‘cold room’ of immorality.

The Cheer News on Tuesday also reported that the President of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Comrade Danielson Akpan said he had received petitions from over 70 students with pieces of evidence that ASUU, ASUP and COEASU are culpable of sexual harassment.

Akpan  in a message sent to The Cheer News said: “I’ve received over 70 complaints between last night and this morning, Nigerian female students are opening up.”

Akpan said unlike in the past when parents were concerned with the stigmatization that followed rape or sexual harassment, adding, now they want justice.

“Their parents are disregarding societal stigmatization,” Akpan said.

He said many students have come out with facts and evidences and are ready to tell the public about lecturers’ intimidation on sex before grade.

Comrade Akpan said: “Most of the students came with facts and evidences and are ready to come public.

“The Academics Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, academics Staff Union of Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Association of Staff Union are principal culprits, COEASU.”

Akpan vowed that NANS would come hard without delay on the culprits of sex for grade on Nigerian campuses.

“Enough of sexual harassment and abuse against students by lecturers,” he said.
