Usman Baba, the inspector general of police, has directed the appointment of 206 assistant commissioners of police and 86 deputy commissioners of police to various state commands, police formations, and zonal commands across the nation.
For a nationwide effective and citizen-led policing system, senior police officers are to act in lieu of other senior Commissioners of Police and other most senior officers in the performance of important administrative, investigative, and operational policing functions.
In a statement that our correspondent was able to receive on Saturday, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, revealed.
“The postings were done to strengthen and catalyze national security mechanisms toward an improved policing system across the country,” Adejobi added.

Adejobi added that Baba restated the leadership of the NPF’s commitment to enhancing policing services across the board to conform to modern policing standards and that it is dedicated to consistently launching efforts to raise internal security in Nigeria.
