28 Females Contest Plateau State House of Assembly

No fewer than 28 females from different political parties are contesting for Plateau State House of Assembly seats in the national elections.

Langtang North (II) constituency has three female candidates with Mariam Ada Bala (ADC), James Alice Wayi (ANN) and Nancher Patricia Wapjin (MPN).

According to the list of contestants published by Plateau State Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, 28 female candidates are contesting under 33 political parties that have registered with the commission in the State

The list as revealed also shown that Shendam, Riyom, Jos East, Mangu North and Langtang South (Mabudi) constituencies have two female candidates each.

Other constituencies with two female candidates included Kanam (I), Pankshin North and Jos East. Constituencies with single female candidate included, Barkin Ladi, Pengana Bassa (I), Rukuba Irigwe and Bokkos.

Constituencies without female candidates included, Jos North, Jos South, Mikang, Qua’an Pan North, Kanam (II) and Wase.

Others included, Jos North West, Kanke, Langtang North (I) and Mangu South.

The list also revealed that the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has two female candidates – Dogo Zainaba (Qua’an Pan South) and Dusu Esther (Jos North West), while the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) hasn’t fielded any female candidate across the 24 constituencies in the state.
