The Chief Executive Officer of eBay, Jamie Iannone has disclosed that the e-commerce guru is set to accept cryptocurrency as one of their payment options.
eBay’s adoption of cryptocurrency as one of the means of payments would therefore create the opportunity for its 187 million customers to pay for goods and services with ease globally.
Iannone, in his interview with CNBC Monday, said that eBay would also explore key into the non-fungible token (NFT) business.
eBay’s CEO revelation is coming at the backdrop of the company’s plans of the rise in crypto popularity and its adoption.
The e-commerce giant posited that having included the likes of Apple Pay and Google Pay, it would not be out of place to add a cryptocurrency option.
“One of the great things about eBay is that when there is a new trend, it just shows up on eBay.
”That’s what we are seeing in areas like NFTs [non-fungible tokens], which we are looking at how we can explore that better.

”eBay has 187 million buyers on the platform as reported in the company’s Q1 earnings release.”
On NFT, he said eBay is looking at it and exploring opportunities on how it can enable NFT business on eBay in an easy way. NFT stands for non-fungible token
