Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Works and Housing has commissioned 0.69 kilometres of reconstructed internal roads inside the University of Benin, UNIBEN.

Fashola who is an alumnus of UNIBEN aided the constructed of roads by the Ministry of Works and Housing as a critical contribution to support the education sector.

The Minister who was represented by the State Controller of Works, Engr. Oke Owen, said 18 out of 43 of such projects have been completed in different universities across the country.

According to him,  President Mohammadu Buhari has stepped up the process of getting the work done in all sectors.

Fashola said: “The gap of our infrastructure needs is steadily being bridged by a gradual process of repairs, renewal and construction on major highways and it has reached schools.

“It is undebatable that quality education will be impacted by the quality of infrastructure and the learning environment and those who doubt it should simply listen to some of the feedback from students in the schools where this type of intervention has taken place.

“There are 43 such interventions in internal roads within tertiary institutions across Nigeria and the students are expressing a renewed enthusiasm with regard to attending classes because some defective roads have been restoring to motor ability.”
