Civil War: Buhari Suffered Post Traumatic Disorder For Many Years, Says Wife

President Muhammadu Buhari, who struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder, lived with First Lady Aisha Buhari for a number of years, according to her (PTSD).
PTSD is a mental health condition brought on by experiencing or witnessing a distressing event. Flashbacks, nightmares, excruciating anxiety, and uncontrollable thoughts about the incident may all be symptoms.
She revealed this at the Armed Forces Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Center (AFPTSDC) launching event, which was held by the Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA).
“My husband was deposed in a coup d’état after serving the Nigerian Army for 27 years. He ruled Nigeria for 20 months, spent 30 months fighting a civil war without receiving rehabilitation, and spent 40 months in prison without being told what his crime was.
“We got married a year after he was released from jail, and I spent 19 years legally living in his home as his wife.
After going through all of this, and at the age of 19, telling someone who was a previous head of state and commander-in-chief of Nigeria’s armed forces that he was mistaken is the first mistake you would make, I experienced the effects of PTSD.
The beginning of my offense in his home was when, at the age of 19, I had to figure out how to tell someone of his caliber whether they were right or wrong. I then ran for office in 2003 and failed, again in 2007, then again in 2011, all without receiving any form of rehabilitation. Eventually, I decided to become a physiotherapist.
President Muhammadu Buhari had already discussed his participation in the Nigerian civil war.
He described how he and his coworkers battled the conflict at his 2018 investiture as Grand Patron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) at the presidential palace in Abuja.
