Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate has urged all parties to focus their efforts on resolving issues affecting rural women.
In a statement released by her office on October 15, the UN-designated International Day of Rural Women, she made the call on Saturday.
Mrs. Tinubu praised rural women for their contributions to keeping food on Nigerians’ tables.
“I would want to salute the many millions of women in Nigeria’s rural communities who make significant contributions to the agricultural process. Women have long worked on our farms and in other sectors of food production and processing, therefore it is crucial that they receive the credit they deserve.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu also urged the creation of rural women’s programs that will aid in boosting their income and enhancing their quality of life.
We must carefully examine the agricultural value chain in order to find more options for rural women. They must be educated on ways to raise their income, and there must be concentrated efforts to address their issues and bring them up to speed on international best practices in agriculture, according to the speaker.
