Two people were slain in a gun attack on Bureh village in Plateau State’s Mangu Local Government Area.
John Mai Kyau and his son were among the deceased, according to Jos residents who said Kyau was running for political office.
It was discovered that during the incident on Wednesday night, Mai Kyau’s wife also sustained injuries. She was taken to a hospital in Mangu where she is presently receiving care.
The attack was corroborated by Salisu Maikudi, a resident of the Bureh Community, who also stated that the corpses were buried on Thursday afternoon.

“Last night, armed assailants struck our Bureh village in Mangu Halle Ward and killed two people,” he claimed. John Mai Kyau, who had previously run to represent the Ward in the area, was among those who died. In addition to killing his son, the shooters also injured his wife. She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
Therefore, we recently buried the two victims who died in the attack this afternoon.
The attack was also confirmed by Bala Fwangji, the representative for Mangu South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, who labeled it “unfortunate”.
“I’m in Abuja right now, but my family contacted to let me know about the attack that resulted in the deaths of two people. As soon as I get back, I’ll go to the impacted village. It’s unfortunate what happened,” the lawmaker remarked.
The Plateau State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, did not return our correspondent’s calls when he tried to reach him for comment on the attack.
