Nigeria at 62: A Country Still Seeking Greatness

NIGERIA@ 62

Nigeria is creating new history at this time, a history of reflection in which the country weighs its successes and failures on the road to freedom.

Nigeria, the largest country in Africa, attained independence in 1960. As an independent nation, the nation has made significant progress in managing its affairs. Nigeria has a self-governing structure, a desire to revive, a passion to realize, and a vision to rekindle.

Nigerians are prospering globally, earning a name for themselves in their fields, and advancing humankind. The richest man in Africa and the 97th richest person worldwide are both Nigerians. We have eminent academics who have achieved worldwide success. Great scientists, technicians, and medical professionals work for our beloved country and uphold its honour. People have whirled the name of Africa out of the terrain of our beloved country in works of art. In the world of sports, we have professional football players, the best singers, and wonderful sportsmanship.

Nigeria is the best because of its wonderful citizens who gave their time and effort to what we are now enjoying. Nigeria “no dey take last,” because Nigerians are devoted to excellence and committed to it. This indicates that the sacrifices made by prior nationalists like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Herbert Macaulay, Ahmadu Bello, Obafemi Awolowo, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Hajia Gambo Sawaba, Margaret Ekpo, and others were never in vain. Nigerian men and women are excelling in every field of human endeavour in support of the development of a powerful and successful country.

Nigeria@62: Tribute to The Neglected Nation Builders

Nigeria’s aspirations to progress have been hampered by the military’s entry into governance. Tribalism and religious politics were the only outcomes of the coup on January 15, 1966.

The nooks and crannies of the poor innocent weak nation were infiltrated by ethnoreligious problems.

Nigeria’s huge meat is being eaten away by corruption, which has taken the form of a termite. Nigeria’s regressive path is now caused by corruption. Leaders in politics, administration, security and education have been accused and disciplined. The residents of Nigeria suffer as the country’s economy declines.

However, as we move forward on our road toward freedom and independence, Nigerians should pray that our leaders would keep their word and be dedicated to creating our nation a peaceful, harmonious, and just one for all.

Nigeria and Nigerians both live long lives!
