Independence Day: The Federal Government Proclaims Monday A Public Holiday.

The Federal Government has declared Monday, October 3, a public holiday in honor of the 62nd anniversary of the country’s independence.

The pronouncement was made by the interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola, in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore.

The minister congratulated Nigerians on their celebration of independence and assured them that the government was committed to addressing the problems the country was currently facing.

“The world is facing serious economic and security difficulties, which have also had an impact on our country. But I want to reassure everyone here that the government will not desert the people; rather, it will keep fighting these battles with all the might at its disposal until we get some relief.

Aregbesola reaffirmed Nigeria’s preeminent position in the world community and the greatness that awaited the nation “if we work hard as a people.”

“Nigeria is without a doubt the leading black nation in the world, Africa’s pride, and a beacon of hope because of its warmth, welcoming spirit, and love, as well as because of its untapped human capital and its wealth of land.

We will become the greatest nation on earth if we can unite to realize our potential. a nation of more than 200 million people, whose inherent skills, grit, and passion shine like the priceless diamonds we are.

Whether in education, business, innovation, science and technology, music, entertainment, fashion, or culture, Nigerians “sparkle like diamonds in the pack” Aregbesola

The minister urged Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to think about the problems the country is now facing and what part they may play in solving them.

He advised Nigerians to put in a lot of effort and avoid any temptation to become wealthy by illegal or other unethical means.

The minister wished Nigerians a great independence day and emphasized that despite their founders’ diversity in language, tribe, and religion, they collaborated to bring about the country’s freedom.

“Even while our country has difficulties, particularly in the area of security, these difficulties are only short-term and do not define us. The diversity, power, inventiveness, and resilience of the Nigerian people define who we are.

“We’ll overcome every obstacle. There will come a moment when we will reflect back on this time and give appreciation to the Most High for guiding us through the turbulent waters. Along with the victories we’ve had over obstacles that seem so enormous and monstrous right now,” he reaffirmed.

Therefore, he urged Nigerians to work with the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to make Nigeria better for all citizens, both at home and abroad.

This will be a worthy monument to the past of our soldiers, he remarked.

The minister also advised Nigerians to abstain from violence, practice security awareness, and use the N-Alert app for Android and iOS to report any suspicious people or activities to the closest security agency.

“Do N-Alert when you observe something for an immediate response from security agents,” he continued.
