Philanthropist Ponnle Donates Multi-Million Naira Property To UNIOSUN Medical School

… Gov. Oyetola Lauds Ponnle’s  Gesture, Urges Others to Emulate

Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola  has lauded the philanthropic gesture of Dr Tunde Ponnle for handing over a multi-million naira property  to Osun State University medical school

He urged other wealthy Nigerians to emulate Chief Ponnle’s spirit of giving to alleviate sufferings of the less privileged in the society.

Oyetola said that genuine contributions by philanthropists to the society would go a long way to build a better society and positively impact on the coming generation.

The Governor made the remarks during the handing over of multi-million naira property belonging to Prince Dr Tunde Ponnle in Ada, Osun State to Osun State University.

The property, which comprises MicCom house and the MicCom Cancer Foundation were donated to Osun State University to be used as medical school.

Oyetola who was represented by his deputy, Benedict Alabi described Chief Ponnle’s life as a model to our coming generations.

He said: “Despite the seeming corruption and other identified vices, there is still hope for Nigeria. It shows that men of character that are needed to rebuild Nigeria are still around here.”

At the handover ceremony which was part of the activities of Prince Tunde Ponnle’s 80th birthday, Ponle said:  “The progress of Nigeria remains the zeal that drives me to promote and support education in all forms.

”The death of my late wife, Comfort Ponnle gave birth to the Misson of Cancer Foundation in which 2,800 people in Osun have benefited from the foundation so far.

“When God speaks to you, then you must obey. All that I am doing are education-oriented. The idea is to promote education in all forms which is what Nigeria needs to progress.

“My late wife died of cancer and she did receive treatment in the best cancer hospital in the world. After her death, we thought of something to immortalize her, and that is why we created the foundation”.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Labode Popoola charged those with affluence to give back to society.

He specially thanked the donor for his immense gesture adding that the institution has since absorbed the staff of MicCom Cancer Foundation and promise to make use of the property judiciously.
