INTERSWITCH2

Thirty Students from selected schools at Makoko Area of Lagos State have gotten coding empowerment from the joint partnership of Interswitch and Slum2school.

Interswitch and slum2school took a week out to teach students on coding, website designing and programming.

Speaking at the coding week held at Adekunle primary school, Makoko, Lagos, Group Head, Corporate Communications and Marketing of Interswitch Group, Enyioma Anaba said: ‘’I am impressed with the rate of students’ learning this week.’’

He said the programme aimed at building scientific knowledged students and prepare the young ones for the future jobs.

According to him, in the next five to ten years, available jobs globally will be tech-based.

Anaba said: ‘’We are here to bring science and technology to the Makoko community since it is a community that can be easily neglected in terms of science and technology.

That informed the reason we renovated the school’s Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) lab for the purpose.’’

Speaking in the same vein, Field Manager, Slum2school, Jennifer Jonathan, said their aim was to get children to use technology and innovation to solve problems.

According to her, there are other programs done by slum2school for other students that could boost their interest in science and technology.

‘’The lab will be opened continually and project assignments given to students to develop their skills from time to time,’’ she said.
