Federal Government Declares Monday Independence Public Holiday

In honour of the 63rd anniversary of independence, the Federal Government has proclaimed Monday, October 2, a public holiday. The government’s announcement was made in Abuja by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister.

The Minister expressed his congratulations to all Nigerians on the occasion in a statement that was made public.

He reassured Nigerians that the administration would continue to work to address the issues the nation was now confronting.

The Minister stated in the statement, which was also signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, that tough socioeconomic and security difficulties are now a known fact on a worldwide scale, and Nigeria is not alone in facing them.

The Minister said that government is making efforts to confront the numerous challenges with all the might available until respite comes the way of the country.
